Fiber Arts

With the winter months fast approaching, there is a certain something in the air that makes us want to feel cozy, warm, and safe. Thoughts of knitted sweaters and handmade quilts come to mind when thinking of the cold winter nights ahead. Perhaps this was the inspiration for Fiber Arts, an exhibition presented this month by the Arts Council of Henderson County. The exhibition features quilts, wall hangings, clothing, as well as crafty little “people”. The familiar materials of cotton, wool, and other fabrics are purposed into decorative, and often functional, pieces of art. Many fabulous regional artists are represented, one of which is Georgia Bonesteel who is known for her magnificent quilts, three of which are displayed in this exhibit. Look for Bonesteel on UNC-TV's Lap Quilting with Georgia Bonesteel.

Fiber Arts runs from November 5th thorough the 26th in the Arts Council of Henderson County’s exhibit hall, the D Samuel Neill Gallery, at 538 N Main Street. The gallery is open from 1-5 pm Tuesday through Friday and from 1-4 pm on Saturdays. Admission is free.
